In June of 2005, the driver of the van I was riding in fell asleep at the wheel, causing the van to hit a guard rail head-on. My left leg was severed below the knee, and I spent the next 8 months recovering from that and many other injuries. At first, I felt like my life was over. It took a while, but with the love and support of family and friends (and a great therapist!), I finally realized it wasn't, and I could do almost everything I did prior to the accident. This life-changing experience made me a stronger person and I am truly grateful to everyone who helped me to get where I am today.
During my low point, I tried to find a support group where I could share, ask questions and feel understood, but there weren't any available in my area. It is my desire to provide this environment for anyone who is struggling or in need of help.
